Trip interruption insurance
If you need to shorten, interrupt or extend your trip, the insurance will reimburse you for the costs of the rest of your trip as well as the additional costs incurred for return travel and accommodation.
What is insured?
What if you have to shorten, interrupt or extend your trip? With trip interruption insurance, you are insured against unforeseen events such as illness, accidents or death during the trip (including those involving related persons or persons travelling with you). The insurance reimburses you for the costs of the unused part of your trip as well as additional return trip and accommodation costs.
Who is insured?
The insurance covers the cardholders (primary card and additional card), their spouse or partner or registered civil partner living in the same household and children under the age of 25 who are entitled to support, provided they live in the same household or are resident in Switzerland.
What are the prerequisites for insurance protection?
The following prerequisites must be met for the insurance to provide cover:
- The trip is cancelled or commenced later or is interrupted or abandoned due to an insured event.
- The trip is a private trip lasting no more than 90 days (duration of trip unlimited for Visa Platinum).
- At least 60% of the travel costs were paid for with a credit card or, as a mandatory requirement, with the credit function of a combined payment card.
How high are the insured sums?
The following maximum insured sum applies per event:
- CHF 4'000
- There is no policy excess.
